Samara might be one of my favorite places in the world, a wonderful beach town that is quiet, charming, and features excellent, diverse restaurants. I still loved the town, the food, the people, and the vibe.

Nosara is awesome, although expensive and is more of a luxury surf town. We also went to Las Catalinas (a new “utopian” town that is the opposite of authentic Costa Rica) for dinner at Sentido Norte which I highly recommend. Potrero is a very chill beach town (although the beach isn’t the greatest) with nice restaurants, a brewery, and is close to everything (about 2 min drive to Playa Flamingo). Playa Grande is fantastic with an amazing beach, surf, and sunset. Tamarindo is what it is, but there are some amazing hidden gem restaurants (see Antichi Sapori) and if you stay in the hill or away from the main drag, it’s a nice place to be (assuming you don’t mind noise/construction).
